# About me

I became a GP (general practitioner, huisarts) to help people. By listening, we look together for the cause of the problem. We do not only treat the symptoms.

## My approach as a GP

My goal is that my patients really feel helped after a consultation. As a GP, I am there first of all to guide and support you, in whatever way you need.

## Preventive medicine

I always look further than a patient's symptoms. If you can tackle the cause, that is better in the long term. This can be anything from losing weight or stopping smoking to reducing stress or exercising more.

If I cannot help you further myself, I refer you to the right physiotherapist, psychologist, dietitian or specialist. I may even refer you to a lawyer, the VDAB (the Flemish employment service) or the OCMW (the local social welfare centre), if that is how I can support my patient.

## What I can do for you

You can come to me for routine GP care. I also have a special interest in dermatology (skin) and paediatrics (children): for two years, I worked as a doctor for Kind en Gezin, the Flemish agency for child and family health.

## A bit more about me

I graduated as a GP from the VUB (Vrije Universiteit Brussel) in 2015. I have also worked for Kind en Gezin, for [Fedasil](https://www.fedasil.be/) (the federal agency for asylum seekers) and for the Belgian armed forces (Defensie). I am also a [LEIF doctor](https://leif.be/) (trained to give information and advice about the end of life), and I regularly work as an expert for the Public Prosecutor's Office (Parket van de procureur des Konings).

Besides my consultations in Sledderlo, I also have a GP practice in Sint-Truiden: [dokteranseeuw.be](https://www.kinderartslimburg-drperusko.be).

## I have also been active as

- member of the board of directors of [Recip-e](https://recip-e.be/) (vice-chair), which makes electronic prescribing of medicines possible
- member of the board of directors of the Flemish doctors' union (Vlaams Artsensyndicaat), branches Antwerp, Limburg and Flemish Brabant
- member of the national board of directors of the doctors' union [BVAS/ABSYM](https://www.absym-bvas.be/)
- (founding) member of the board of directors of a GP out-of-hours service
- doctors' representative on the Vitalink Consultation Committee (Vitalink is the Flemish platform for sharing health data)

## Besides my work as a GP
